Biography
My art career spans 37 years. Originally a painter and sculptor, I focused on Installation Art after completing a Master of Creative Arts degree in 1992 at Wollongong University.
From 2001, with the introduction of 'Art Built-In' policy in Queensland I have completed many public art commissions, and received a Royal Australian Institute of Architecture Award for the entrance sculpture to Mackay Artspace. I have created many solo exhibitions and exhibit regularly within Queensland at regional and contemporary galleries. I work with diverse materials, across art forms.
I have also had a long career as an art educator most recently managing and teaching within the Visual Art department at Tropical North Queensland TAFE.
Environmental art has been my particular focus since 2006 with the project 'Waters' Edge - creating environments', which is ongoing and for which I received a Creative Fellowship from Arts Queensland in 2007.
Public Art is also a focus. This year and in 2011, I am participating in five public art projects.Contact Jill by e-mail
